Asset Management vendor achieves Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 status

4th October 2004:  Swindon-based software developer, Centennial Software, has been confirmed as one of the UK's fastest-growing technology businesses. The company features in the Tech Track 100 published by the Sunday Times yesterday as both the highest-ranked IT asset management vendor and leading South West-based technology firm.

Ranked 34th in the country's overall top 100, the company, which was founded in a back bedroom in 1997, has grown from a developer of specialist Y2K testing software to a global provider of solutions designed to help organizations better manage their hardware and software assets.

With IT spend rapidly becoming second only to payroll in most organizations' annual costs, Centennial Software's flagship product 'Centennial Discovery' provides firms with 100% visibility of their existing software and hardware inventory, eliminating unnecessary purchases and ensuring that businesses are fully compliant with laws governing software licensing and usage.

Company founder and Executive Vice President, Glenn Stephens, commented on the accolade: "There are two main business drivers for the success of Centennial Discovery. The first is that businesses are more aware than ever of the need to ensure that they are not using more software than they have paid for - which can be extremely difficult to manage on large networks. Centennial Discovery allows managers to automatically find all the software in the organization, creating huge savings in manpower, disruption and business risk.

"The second is that, in these cost-conscious times, firms need to know that they are spending what budget they have in the most effective way - and that means knowing what resources are already in place, how much they are being used and what the likely cost of upgrading or replacing them might be. What Centennial Discovery is does is give back control of the network and budget to the IT team."

Centennial Software now has offices in the UK, USA, Australia and South Africa. Centennial Discovery is used by over 2,500 organizations worldwide. In February this year, the company secured financial backing from venture capital company, b-business partners, and appointed Andy Burton as Chief Executive Officer.
