The director of Centennial Software products at FrontRange Solutions has highlighted the importance of software asset management (SAM) to businesses in the current economic climate.
Matt Fisher told online news resource CRN that IT and finance leaders were understanding that better controls in the workplace are the best way to get a real understanding of the inner workings of their company, with software assets being particularly important.
He added that by giving IT support the ability to get an accurate idea of the assets available to a company, staff are able to deliver "improved service delivery, project planning and security" as well as cost savings in terms of overall licensing charges.
Mr Fisher concluded: "Instead of fretting about compliance and the prospect of an impending software audit, the business can gain control and enjoy immediate cost savings."
Also speaking on behalf of information analysts IDC, Mr Fisher has over ten years of experience in the security market and has been with Centennial Software since 2004.
