Google has admitted to losing some companies' data on its free Analytics product, according to sources.
The company notified users that the application has experienced difficulties throughout the week which led to a permanent loss of some information, according to webpronews.com.
A notice from the firm said a "data processing error" had occurred from April 30th to May 5th, with "almost all" being recovered.
However, Google did say: "Please note that a small percentage of data, particularly in the area of e-commerce reporting, was not recoverable from those dates."
The website has reported that users are taking the news well and so far the firm has not received any backlash for the loss.
Users were assured that the team sincerely apologised for the issue and are taking "every precaution to prevent such disruptions from occurring again in the future".
The recent RSA security conference found that people who had adopted data loss prevention software early on said that business processes were to blame for most information losses.
