Data loss rife among UK companies

Data loss is prevalent among UK companies, according to a new survey, which found that 79 per cent of firms lose data each month.

The research, from the IT management company CA, found that over a quarter of businesses lost data weekly, reports Silicon.com.

Covering companies which were larger than 1,000 employees, the research also discovered that IT departments are suffering from a lack of funding, which may lead to the losses.

Network crashes were also reported, which may lead to unwanted access to data, with almost a quarter reporting them, according to the website.

In addition, application crashes were reported by 30 per cent of the 250 IT bosses surveyed, with slowing applications happening in 27 per cent.

The bosses reported that companies should use new technology available to them to tackle the data loss issues.

It was recently revealed that most UK companies are failing to encrypt data leading to more cases of data theft.
