Microsoft has signed a new license deal with car manufacturers to incorporate its voice-command software into the vehicles.
The software giant has signed a worldwide deal with Hyundai and Kia to allow people to use their voice to control music players and telephones, according to the Press Association.
Previously, an exclusive deal on the software to Ford Motor was in place, but this is due to expire in November, after which the new deal will come into place.
Ford's system, Sync, connects mobile phones, iPods or MP3 players to the cars' audio systems, according to the news company.
Velle Kolde, senior product manager for Microsoft Auto, said while the car manufacturers will be entitled to use the software from November they probably will not be ready in time.
He also said that features could include navigation and an emergency call service when the airbags are inflated.
In related news, Microsoft has recently revealed a new web-based software system which rolls data storage and software systems into one product.
