Users of SAP software of business objects reporting tools may be forced to pay 22 per cent of the software licence fee for maintenance contracts, according to a source.
The company has revealed that the existing 17 per cent of the licence fee rate, covering a standard support contract, is no longer being offered.
In its place the firm has introduced a new support contract for business who want to build applications using service orientated architecture, which will support SAP and non-SAP products.
Damien Ghee, IT and programme director at Warburtons, backed the idea: "Given that sometimes we have had challenges in getting a high-quality service from these companies
buying these additional services direct from SAP could be a useful alternative."
It is warned the new measures will increase the price of ownership considerably and the firm will have to show it can result in cost savings for customers.
The website Information Age has reported the cost of hiring staff who can run the software is also rising.
