Despite current economic fears in the UK, IT managers are not planning to cut back their spending on software this year.
A study from Forrester Research has shown that 79 per cent of the respondents intend to upgrade some, or most, of their software in the next three years, reports Computer World.
In addition, almost half of the IT professionals said they plan to get new versions of their enterprise resource planning either this year or next.
Over 45 per cent want to upgrade their customer relationship management systems and 37 per cent also plan on buying new supply chain management applications, said the website.
From the 191 respondents, two-thirds said they thought hardware and data centre upgrades were either a "priority" or a "critical priority".
However, the study found that only 20 per cent of people plan to create a five-year applications plan this year.
Gartner recently recommended measures to cut IT costs, following the economic downturn, which included considering open source licensing and maximising data integration.
