The biggest challenge for companies is the "invisible" threats in managing data, according to one expert.

Gwen Thomas, president of the Data Governance Institute said that extensive rules regarding data management make it harder than ever for a company to control, reports TechNewsWorld.

Tom Klaff, the chief executive officer of Surety, adds that the responsibility to ensure data is secure lies with company bosses.

"It is the fiduciary responsibility of corporate management to stand behind and prove that their electronic records accurately reflect the course of business they are on, and that they are honest and ethical custodians of sensitive information," he states.

Mr Klaff told the website that the top bosses should be aware of the threat not only from outside, but also from people within the organisation.

The senior director of strategic marketing for Imperva Mark Kraynak said with regards to compliance with data management a single process should be taken to ensure it occurs at all time.

IT Business Net recently highlighted the need for companies to implement a range of measures to ensure compliance is maintained when using virtualised servers.
