BSA investigates 41 Glasgow companies
The Business Software Alliance’s first regional-specific anti-piracy campaign appears to be showing results, with a total of 41 businesses in and around Glasgow now under investigation.
This follows a month-long program in November 2007 which offered companies in the region 30-days to tru-up their software licensing. The BSA claims that several hundred targets did exactly that, but has now turned its attentions on companies that it believes ignored the warnings and have continued to practice software piracy.
The BSA reportedly receives more reports of software piracy within businesses in Glasgow than any other city across the UK outside Greater London. Further city-wide crackdowns are scheduled across the UK, with Manchester next on the list.
