New York firm settles with SIIA for $500,000

The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) has announced details of a $500,000 settlement with New York-based Whittiker Legal Publishing Corp, Inc.

The firm was found to using unlicensed versions of software from Adobe, Filemaker, Symantec and other prominent vendors.  The half-million  dollar deal includes cash payment, destruction of unlicensed software, purchase of replacement software, adoption and implementation of software management policies, and attendance by employees at software asset management educational seminar.

The SIIA says it will use the settlement to fund further anti-piracy education efforts and enforcement work.
